Implementation Steps
- Check scanners are installed at your branch and remote
drive-throughs
- Tellers scan batches of deposited checks throughout the
day
- Software reads MICR line data and written dollar
amount, checks for presence of a signature, and verifies image quality
prior to transmission to Southwest Corporate
- Imaged checks are cleared the most expeditious and
least-cost method through:
- National image exchange networks
- Direct connection with paying bank
- Federal Reserve Bank
- Any items that cannot be presented electronically, the
Federal Reserve Bank prints and presents as substitute checks, or image
replacement documents (IRDs)
- Images are stored and backed up for seven years and can
be accessed via the Internet
